FancyZones for Mac

If you used FancyZones in Microsoft PowerToys on Windows, you know the idea: draw your own layout once, then drop windows into it. PowerToys is a Windows product, so it does not run on a Mac. Zonewell brings the same idea to macOS.

How Zonewell does it

Zonewell is a small menu bar app. Open Settings, drag and resize zones on a live preview of your screen, and save the layout. Hold a key while you drag a window and the zones appear. Let go over a zone and the window snaps into it.

Draw your own layoutUp to 9 zones on a live preview, with snapping to thirds, quarters and each other
Snap by draggingHold a key while dragging a window, release over a zone
Snap from the keyboardEvery zone has its own global shortcut, and you can change them

Honest differences

Zonewell is its own app, not a port of PowerToys, so some details differ. macOS also asks you to switch on Accessibility access before any app can move other apps' windows. Zonewell uses that permission only to move and resize windows and does not read their contents. It collects no analytics and needs no account.
